DALLAS, TX September 1, 2004 -- Kevin McHargue, (bio: http://www.baronandbudd.com/AU_ATT32.html) a shareholder with the law firm of Baron & Budd, P.C., has been named to the list of "Texas Rising Stars" by his peers. The list of Texas' top young attorneys appears in the July 2004 issues of Texas Monthly and Texas Rising Stars, a joint project of the publishers of Texas Monthly and Law & Politics Media, Inc. The attorneys selected from Baron & Budd P.C. come with a wide variety of experience, from championing the rights of mesothelioma patients to litigating environmental cases.
Kevin McHargue is a member of Baron & Budd's appellate section. He has defended several multi-million dollar verdicts on behalf of mesothelioma victims and workers injured by asbestos and other toxic substances in courts throughout the country, including Texas, Louisiana, New York, and Wisconsin. In 2003, Kevin co-authored an amicus brief filed by Trial Lawyers for Public Justice in Norfolk & Western Ry Co. v. Ayers, 588 U.S. 135, a case that preserved the common law right of plaintiffs in asbestos cases to recover fear-of-cancer damages. He serves on the board of directors of the Texas branch of the American Civil Liberties Union and is a volunteer attorney for the Lambda Legal Defense Fund.
"Kevin is a brilliant legal mind and a talented appellate advocate," said Russell Budd, managing partner of the firm. "We are very fortunate to have Kevin as part of the Baron & Budd team."
